Theology Club

Our first topic, as the church prepares for Holy Week is:
Salvation and Atonement.

We will meet in the cafe area at St Andrew’s Church, Earls Colne on:
Sunday, 7 July 2-4pm.

Welcome to our Theology Club, which will meet four times a year to dig deeper into the diversity of views on a particular topic, exploring what their origins are and the discussion on them throughout the centuries.

You may have been going to church for years, you might be new to church or you might not go regularly to church, if at all, but this club is open to all who wish to listen, share, ask questions and proffer opinion in a respectful and safe environment.

The session will start with refreshments and an introduction from Reverend Mark and will then be followed by group discussion. If you’re planning to come, please let Reverend Mark know (email: colnesvicar@gmail.com or tel 01787 220347).

Film Club

As a group we never shy away from some of the most challenging topics raging in society today. This month is no different, though we are veering away from true life stories to fiction, for a change, with a film that is packed full of challenges. Might be a little uncomfortable for some, but lots to keep the discussion going for a while!

The Film - As good as it gets - starring Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt

The Discussion - Wednesday 8th May 2024 gather at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start

The Where - The Drapers, Earls Colne

For more information, contact Sharon (revdsdq@gmail.com), Kirsten (kpt1607@icloud.com) or Ray (rawood@me.com)

If you have watched a film that you feel would lead to a really good, deep, meaningful and engaging discussion, please let us know.

It is completely free and provides a safe space for people to connect with others whilst getting support and information (as well as a hot drink) from our NCT-trained practitioner. Includes short talks on specific topics:

  • Sleep and routines

  • Development and play

  • Feeding and weaning.

For more information please call Caroline on 01787 224658.

Home Groups

We have two Home Groups.

Exploring the Bible - Every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Cloth Fair, High Street, Earls Colne (next to Telephone Exchange).
In this group, we will look at the Principal Service Lectionary readings read on Sundays. We look for themes shared between our readings and what about what we can learn and share in our life and witness today.

However, during Lent (from 21 February until Easter on 31 March), the ‘Exploring the Bible’ Home Group will become a Lent Group and will be discussing Lent themes in the context of the stage adaptation of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables.

The Lectio Course, every other week on Thursdays at 10.30am at 21A Brook Street, Colne Engaine.

The Lectio home group will not take place during Lent (21 February until Easter).

If you would like to join us, there are leaflets at the back of our churches. If you are interested, please contact Reverend Mark.
